High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter (HEPA filter) are mechanical filters. They can be used to filter out more than 99.9 per cent of all dust particles in the air which are larger than 0.1 -0.3 microns, i.e. viruses, respirable dusts, mite eggs, pollen, smoke particles, asbestos, bacteria, aerosols.
HEPA filters consist of a labyrinth of submicroscopically fine fibers. This fiber technology was originally developed especially for highly sensitive areas in research, medicine, aeronautics and electronics.
