These air purifiers generate an electrostatic effect by using plate filters and high-voltage supply units. Upon entering into the plate filter the particles are positively charged by fine wires and they are then attracted by the negatively charged plates. Thus, these units are able to filter up to 95% of all particles down to a size of 0.001 microns.
As more and more dirt accumulates on the plates their efficiency reduces. Depending on the room air pollution the electrostatic filters have to be regularly cleaned in an ultrasonic bath.
In addition, these units are equipped with activated carbon filters.
Units with electrostatic filters are particularly well suited for the use in smoking rooms, to remove odors, bacteria etc.
